Grand Ridge Prime Lamb
Weekly Times article
Who are you ?
We are a small speciality Prime Lamb producer in Gippsland.
We are members of Meat & Livestock Australia and abide by their strict production rules.
We are also members of the South Gippsland Prime Lamb group.
Where do the lambs come from?
Our lambs are all born and raised on our farm in South Gippsland in Mirboo North.
They are grass/pasture fed and are free range.
What’s special about your lamb ?
The taste and texture of our lamb is quite special.
Our lamb is of Wiltipoll breed, which is an Australian breed developed from the traditional English breed of Wiltshire Horn.
Wilitpoll are a cleanskin variety of sheep that shed their fleece annually, similar to Dorper (a South African breed), however Wiltipoll sheep are more suited to Australian conditions and require less veterinary intervention.
We also offer cleanskin composite sheading lambs for sale.
Are you organic farmers?
No we are not organic, as organic farming would restrict our vaccination & parasite control programs; we believe this is not in the best interest of the sheep.
Our lambs are raised free range and are grass fed on our pasture.
We find the breed to be extremely resilient & healthy requiring minimal veterinary intervention.
